Things have been going well for me this week - I went to NYC on a whim to audition for a musical theater company that is including the Yeston/Kopit Phantom as part of their season. My synchronicity occurred as I was able to catch the very last seat on the only bus out that would get me into the city in time to sign up for an audition slot that wouldn’t have me sitting around for the entire day. I actually had fun at the audition for a change! :-)

Morning pages were so-so, and artist’s date went well: I decided to take back roads home from my lesson this week(I drive an hour and a half each way to study with the voice teacher I had at college right now - she’s tops). The leaves are beginning to change now, so the drive through the countryside was beautiful. I’ve been using the blurts and affirmations exercise a lot this week as well as continuing my journey through The Vein of Gold. It’s been interesting to keep both books accessible.

Goals: Sarasota audition this week: keep me in your thoughts. I’m only working on the arias and the opera I’m currently in. No recital (will that ever get done?) and no extras. I’m not even going to think about my church job until I get back here.

I just had a faboo audition for a group of musical theater companies: no callback, but good vibes all around from fellow auditionees and the audition panel. Sometimes the progress you make is more important than the results. A lesson a while in coming, but a very important one. Morning pages haven’t been perfect, neither have the artist’s dates (although I’m counting trudging around NYC today (and a visit to the new location for the Drama Book Shop!)as a huge artist’s date for the boost I’ve had today in my self esteem. I’ve needed to come here for a while now (I actually haven’t been since before 9/11!!). For me and the artistic process. It may be grimy, smelly, and loud at times, but there’s no place in the world like it for me. Keep me in thoughts for the fall audition tour.

Goals: Keep progressing through the auditions
Recommendation: Vein of Gold (book 2 in TAW) Rough going with the autobio, but worth it.
