In Memoriam: Daphne 1991-2006

Our bubbly little flirt had to be put to sleep. The wonderful dog groomer, Charlene, said with the things she was noticing, we should take her to the vet to get checked - something we had talked about the day before. We all hoped that it could be fixed, but alas, the best that we could do for her was to call Mom, bring her home for a couple of hours of final cuddling and a last "cell chat" with her birthday buddy (my sister), and then take her back to the vet's towards the end of office hours so she could join Cosi. We all agree that she continued to mourn Cosi, which is what hastened things along - she'd sit in Cosi's spot on the couch, for instance, or other little things that made you know she knew. Daffy - you are my beautiful Camille. I will miss you "flirting" with Jay whenever he came over.

An update: Florida's Sound of Music gig was a great learning experience, and I miss everyone a lot. I'll never forget one of our Kurts, who had never done a show before, crying at the final night cast party. He came over to me, and we shared a big hug, and I told him that everything about this business is great, but there's no other way to say it: saying goodbye to a cast you've grown close to sucks. To Kevin and all the other kids I've worked with - you guys are the best, and will always be in my heart! May you all be richly blessed in your lives.

The end of the Florida gig found me flying into the city for an HMS Pinafore gig - which I ended up booking, and I'm having the time of my life. It's hard to believe that this run is almost over. It's been great working with these people too. Yeah, you hear stories about how people in the business are out to get you, and I know they're out there, but it simply really hasn't been my experience, other than a few people I can count on one hand (or less). Maine is beautiful, I highly recommend it - the people are great, and the scenery is hard to beat. Fellow cast members David, Michelle, Jen, and I did a road trip to Bar Harbor, walked through some of Acadia (do yourself a favor and go), and had a lovely seafood dinner with some fantastic clam chowder - a great follow up to the late luncheon David, Michelle, and I had in Camden the week before. I will miss our small sightseeing group! By the way - the theatre I'm at -

is a delight - wonderful local chorus members as well as an outstanding bunch of leads and crew who also happen to be nice people with whom I'll miss hanging out.
