A backdated entry from an Artist’s Way group I worked with. Hope there’s no conflict in posting it here.

I decided I’d better take my time before the Tonys to do my check-in, otherwise I may not get to it this week!

Morning pages: 7 out of 7, and it’s finally getting easier.

Artist’s Date: I didn’t really do one big one, but managed to get a 40 minute walk in (and found out in the process that my SO lives a walkable distance from where the opera chorus rehearses!) I also found time to take a real soak in the whirlpool and “window shopped” at some of the clothing stores that have been mentioned recently on the General Forum. I also decided to have a childhood lunch this week: Spaghettios, carrot sticks and celery with peanut butter.

Tiny change: I found time to really get the handwritten address book under way. I love my PDA, but I also love having a hard copy, just in case (handy right now - the synching program is not working!!)

Issues: Last night (!) I went to a read through of Guys and Dolls for a local community theater group who have their sights set on a full blown summer stock program in a few years. I haven’t done any musical theatre in a couple of years now, and it was a nice confirmation that I still can do it without sacrificing the progress that my teacher and I have put in! I have to confess that I still wish I could belt from time to time, just to play Miss Adelaide, but there is so much available to me where I am vocally right now. And the regulars for this group are a great bunch of people to boot.

i also had a fantastic coaching with the opera co’s chorus mistress/accompanist, who wants me to work on Lakme (yeah!) She got a contact for me for Italian language lessons - something I’ve been thinking about for a while now. So I guess that’s part of my synchronicity!

My voice lesson also went well - the voice is beginning to develop consistency for the larger rep (ie - Gilda) where I need to have some heft for a few pieces as well as the coloratura. I have been waiting for this moment for so long I thought I’d never make it.

More synchronicity: with what happened for the French presentation a few weeks back, I said nothing about getting paid (we were supposed to be for the recital) I hadn’t planned on money anyways, as it was a replacement for my mom - she hates talking in front of groups, but wanted to join, so I volunteered. This week I got a thank you card and some cash - enough to cover my coaching for the week! I’ve also been getting compliments since then and have been asked to perform for another group at the end of the month.

Things I am looking ahead to: tv deprivation for part or all of the summer, and reading deprivation a couple times a year (once a month? - I’m still not sure how to deal with this one) How are the rest of you planning these things into your schedules?
